Our center is constantly evolving and improving to meet the needs of the community. September 1996 marked restructuring the program into a preschool format with extended hours. For your convenience, your child is provided the traditional preschool experience without the disruption of moving between groups. Consistent small groups enhance teacher/child ratios and improve communication. The Preschool and Preschool with Extended Hours work hand-in-hand to provide the best possible atmosphere for the positive development of children between the ages of 6 weeks and Kindergarten.
St. Paul's Preschool with Extended Hours is open from 7:00 A.M. to 5:30 P.M. five days a week during the school year. Hours may change during the summer. St. Paul's Preschool with Extended Hours is closed on major holidays. For a complete list, please see our calendar.
The curriculum provides activities that encourage physical, intellectual, social and creative development in your child. Both free choice and teacher directed activities are provided. Children learn and grow in a positive atmosphere that caters to the emotional needs of the child and the nurturing philosophy of the center.
Each child's day begins with a warm greeting by a loving staff member. A period of unstructured free play begins the early morning hours. Beginning at 9:00 A.M. the child will participate in staff directed activities such as: story time, music, dramatic play, large and small motor activities, arts/crafts and developmentally appropriate learning opportunities.
After lunch all groups except the Pre-K group will have a nap or rest time. During the afternoon structured time will provide directed activities, games, stories and a less structured time will provide children a chance to choose activities that conform to their needs, interests and energy levels. Inside and outside activities will provide many interesting choices for each child. Meeting the individual needs of each child during the time he/she is in our care is our most important goal.
All children must have a completed application, emergency contact form, fee agreement, child health assessment form and I.F.S.P. or I.E.P. (if applicable) on file.
